International Shiloh Shepherd Dog Club,
Inc. - Code of Ethics
This Code of Ethics is intended to serve as a guide
that all members of the International Shiloh Shepherd Dog Club, Inc.
should follow. It exemplifies our role as guardians of the breed, having
a common interest in the protection and well-being of the breed and of
the individual dogs that our members own and our breeders produce.
As a member of the International Shiloh Shepherd
Dog Club, Inc.:
- I will comply with the Constitution and By-Laws of this organization
and this Code of Ethics.
- I will act in a professional manner when representing the Shiloh
Shepherd breed to the public.
- I will familiarize myself with the rules of sanctioning bodies
of events in which I participate and honor those rules. I will bring
any concerns or issues to the attention of the appropriate official
of these sanctioning bodies in a professional manner.
- I will refer questions that I can not answer to an ISSDC, Inc.
board member/officer or in the case of recognized Shiloh Shepherd
registries, a designated registry personal.
- I will not make false statements against any Shiloh Shepherd registry,
organization, breeder, or dogs in a public or private forum.
- I will act in a good sportsman-like manner at all dog related events.
- I will exhibit or trial only well groomed dogs in healthy condition.
- I will be sure to have water and proper crating/pens to keep my
dog(s) confined. If it is hot I will be sure to provide a shaded
area for my dogs.
- I acknowledge that I am responsible for the health, happiness,
and well-being of all dogs in my care, and I take that responsibility
seriously. I will treat my dogs humanely and provide them with high
quality food, clean water, weather appropriate shelter, veterinary
care, exercise, grooming, socialization and training,
- I will participate in efforts to assess and improve the health
of the Shiloh Shepherd breed, including participation in valid, reliable
and responsible testing for hereditary diseases and will share health
information with other ISSDC, Inc. members/breeders.
- I will be honest in any written or spoken statements about my dog
As a breeder in the International Shiloh Shepherd
Dog Club, Inc.:

I will become familiar with the Shiloh Shepherd
Breed Standard and breed only the best possible specimens in accordance
to that standard.

I will strive to participate in such events as
conformation shows, herding trials, obedience trials, and any other
events that would validate the physical and mental soundness of my
breeding Shiloh Shepherds.

I will represent my dogs and their progeny honestly.

I will not donate, give, sell or consign puppies
to pet shops, auctions, raffles, or other such activities.

I will not donate, give, sell or consign puppies
to any person whose intention (either known or suspected) is to resell
or use the puppy/dog in a breeding program that does not comply with
this Code of Ethics.
