"Dog mom, Sabine, writes: Don't let Tessa's
picture fool you ! When she is not out howling with the werewolves,
she is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. Her daytime job is mostly
at the nursing home, where she sees alzheimer's and dementia patients,
or just visiting with the elderly in the assisted living facility.
Recently she's also been visiting patients at Virginia Hospital Center's
oncology ward and the emergency room. Everyone there just loved her
! Last year she put in over 125 hours of volunteer time at local
nursing home facilities and she is a dog you can trust 100 % when
it comes to friendly personality.
"Noble Comtessa vom Hellenstein" a.k.a. "Tessa" is
from the 2005 Skye/Elvis litter and when it came to pick out our
puppy, she was the one who picked us and we never looked back. I
hope she doesn't regret her choice, because we certainly do not regret
ours. She loves to go for long walks in the woods with her dachshund
buddies Bica and Rodney, and she loves to swim. Her usually perfectly
centered "shiloh halo" slips a bit off to the side when
it comes to harrassing deer. Her idea of the perfect deer herd is
having them all graze peacefully on one little organized pile while
she is watching over them. Her herding instinct is tremendous and
I wish I had more time to dedicate ourselves to that discipline.
In the meantime, herding deer and her dachshund roomates will have
to do.
Animal assisted therapy is definitely her calling
and besides having successfully passed the CGC and TDI evaluation,
she is also "neutral
dog" for Fairfax Pets on Wheels, which means that she tests
other dog for dog-on-dog aggression. Her communication skills are
great and most dogs just love her. Our next goal: The Delta Society's
Pet Partner test.
It is an honor to be voted ISSDC's scariest Halloween
therapy dog ! The folks at the nursing home are going to love this
one. :) Special thanks to Elvis' mom Siegi Belz for providing the
winning picture of Tessa. Since Tessa absolutely hates wearing costumes,
I had to improvise a little via Photoshop."

SLIVERS? (sigh).....You people are NOT slivers. You are the whole
Enchilada, the Real Deal, the Keepers Of The Flame. The original
Visionary took the glory and focus off The Vision and placed
it on the Visionary. When that happened, The Vision was lost
and thus up for grabs. The torch was dropped and you people have
picked it up. In the process of picking it up, you got some bumps
and bruises. That's okay because the dogs you breed will be proof
of your courage and good hearts. Your love and pride will shine
out of their eyes and be manifested in their robust health. Your
dogs will be your legacy long after anyone is left who remembers

Many
foundation members of the International Shiloh Shepherd Dog Club (ISSDC)
have been deeply involved in the Shiloh Shepherd world since its
official acceptance as a Rare Breed, way back in 1991! Since then,
there have been a few registries formed to accept the Shiloh Shepherd,
all of which share the same goal in bettering the breed and maintaining
the highest of breeding protocol. The ISSDC consists of a very
strong and ever multiplying coalition of breeders and owners. Our members
either have very in-depth breeding experience, or have simply chosen
to be owned by one (or MANY MORE!) of these wonderful dogs. We
prefer to be a non-political group whose purpose is to promote the Shiloh
Shepherd as not only a great family dog, but also in the show ring and
working disciplines as well. We recognize Shiloh Shepherd dogs
of all registries, specifically when their pedigrees reflect the same
Shiloh Shepherd ancestors. We 'show' our Shiloh's to celebrate
their beauty, and we 'work' our Shiloh's to celebrate their intelligence. We
LOVE our Shiloh's, and we strive to protect our breed for future generations.
What makes the ISSDC unique
is that it is an international club which includes the support
and participation of three national and international Shiloh Shepherd
registries. The three registries are:
These registries came together under
a unified club allegiance so breeders have the opportunity to work
together by sharing information, brain storming ideas and bringing together
diversity to produce the best possible Shiloh Shepherds for years to
come. International summits, combined decades of breeders experience,
and schooled genetics knowledge are unified to keep the integrity
of the Shiloh Shepherd we all know and love.
